A DAY IN THE LIFE
- 9:00 am – 10:00 am
Arriving at the courthouse; speaking to the counsel for the defence; seeing if there have been any changes in the proceedings. - 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Attending a pre-trial meeting with the defence attorney and the judge; possibly plea-bargaining. - 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Appearing in court for an ongoing trial: making arguments to the jury, examining witnesses, submitting evidence, listening to the defence, and taking notes. - 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Breaking for lunch. - 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Continuing the trial: cross-examining the defence witnesses who testified this morning. - 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Setting trial dates in front of a different judge. - 4:30 pm – 5:00 pm
Conducting bail hearings. - 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Preparing for the next day’s trials: researching and going over notes.
